Eddy Ashdown

I studied at Southbank Polytechnic and gained my degree in 1986. After studying I spent the next three years working for a large Design & Build contractor in their design department, which gave me invaluable on site experience. Following this I worked at Hammersmith & Fulham Council, this too gave me invaluable experience in working for the Public Sector, which obviously helped with future planning issues.

Having given myself a good grounding in ‘real’ construction, I began my private practice career at The HSB Partnership, this was followed by employment at a number of large London design practices. My work ranged from high end private residential refurbishments to large riverside flat developments. In 1996 I joined Landmark Architecture, where I met my future business partner Jeremy Lowe. While there we set up a satellite office in Harley Street and continued to work on high specification architectural projects.

We set up BLA Architects in 2001, initially it was just the two of us working on small private house extensions and refurbishments in SW London. The practice grew steadily and now undertakes work all over London and Oxfordshire.
